Network Security Engineer

Job Description

Duties include:
Take end-to-end responsibility for, and prioritise own work
Communicate effectively and professionally with customers
Manage own work and be self-motivating
Work and communicate effectively
Escalate to vendors or internally when it is right to do so
Time recording, manage call queue and update helpdesk software
Owning and taking pride in the relationship with customers
On-call cover for infrastructure approx. 17 weeks per year

Skills and experience required:
Achieved or working towards Professional Level Technical Qualification (e.g. Cisco CCNA / CCNP / CCDP, VMware VCP-NV)
Certified, interested in achieving or working towards other network or security professional level qualifications
Good understanding of routing, VPN / SDWAN, VLAN, switch configuration and troubleshooting, monitoring, upgrading, firewalls
3 Years (minimum) supporting complex network environments
Excellent communications skills with customers and vendors
Ability to take responsibility whilst working as part of a team
Network maintenance plans, setting permissions, installing hardware and software patches, working to industry standards and practices, reviewing security and planning improvements
Exceptional customer service approach

Desirable:
Understanding of how networks integrate in VMware virtual environments, software defined networks (SDN) and SDWAN
Securing virtual machine networks and routing in a virtual environment
Firewall design and maintenance for example: Cisco ASA, Firepower, VMware NSX, F5, Checkpoint)
Connecting and securing multi-cloud environments
Storage protocols, hyper-converged or converged (Cisco UCS) protocols
