IT Senior Technician

Job Description

Duties include:
Supporting the Computer Services IT Manager and supervision of current and new IT projects to ensure professional management practises are followed at all times, and to provide and maintain quality controls, processes and documentation in line with project expectations
Provide a technical lead for installation and commissioning of servers (virtual and physical), networking (Ethernet and fibre channel) and VPNS/routing, security (firewall and proxy) platforms and infrastructure. Provide a technical lead for evaluation, testing and live deployment (lifecycle) of internal use IT applications, systems and services
Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve incidents and problems within agreed SLA’s and oversee workflow for internal support team resources and external IT support vendor relationships and performance
Support, maintain and configure existing Office 365 applications and ADFS/AD Connect
Support and maintain existing ITIL process framework including Change Control, and work within an ITIL compliant service desk system (CMDB), to manage the ITIL process library
Lead technical reviews and project meetings and work closely with IT Development and Technical teams for application and system related projects
Analyse, assimilate and communicate new or improved diagnostic tools and techniques, to develop and enhance IT maintenance processes and methodology
Develop and maintain IT KPI’s and reporting in line with management and quality (ISO27001:2013) requirements
Complete internal IT quality audits and support external quality audit reviews
Produce and maintain technical documentation, analysis reports and work place procedures including solution notes, for internal IT systems and platforms in line with QMS/ISO requirements and controls
Undertake operational run and manage task activities as the senior resource within the IT Services, support and Helpdesk function, including escalation and control of work requests, incident and problem prioritisation and asset management (ITAM/SAM)
Develop and maintain IT Business Continuity and Disaster recovery processes and documentation, including scheduled testing, in line with ISO requirements
Provide IT technical advice and support, to internal customers and represent the Computer Services function at key technical forums, planning and strategy meetings as appropriate

Skills and experience required:
5+ years of overall experience in IT industry
5+ years of experience in technical, architect, consulting, and/or supervisory IT role delivering IT managed and/or support services to both internal and/or external clients/customers
Proven experience and certified skills in Microsoft operating systems, applications and platforms (including Windows, Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, IIS, Office/O365 or Sharepoint)
Proven experience and/or certified skills in Networking and Security products and solutions (such as Cisco, HP, Enterasys)
Proven experience and certification with Cloud and Virtualisation products (such as Vmware-VCP, Citrix-CCA/CCE/CCP, or Microsoft-MCITP)
Fully competent with Microsoft Office applications – incl. Visio and Project
Full clean driving licence
