Financial Analyst

Job Description

Duties include:
Management and continuing development of the Group’s standard financial investment model that is used for assessing opportunities, taking them to Investment Committee, producing forward-looking financial projections and for managing working capital
Looking at specific business opportunities, drawing relevant information from Managing Directors, Legal Managers and where appropriate external parties in all regions to develop case financial models that support the decision-making process into potential new litigation investments
Supporting the Regional Investment Officer in pricing and scenario testing of investments to ensure that they meet investment criteria, including reviewing and stress testing the quantum assessment and payment terms of opportunities introduced by Managing Directors
Providing supporting information on all cases so that the Company manages its investments to maintain a balanced portfolio across exposures, geographies and investment types
Assisting in structuring and documenting particularly complex terms and deals e.g. co-funding, portfolio funding
Continuing analysis and management of cases throughout their lifespan, including cost and budgetary analysis and management, regular monthly reporting and forecast updates and helping to manage ongoing commercial risk
Supporting the Regional Investment Officer in troubleshooting live cases (working with Managing Directors), modelling changing funding requirements and amending documentation
Any other tasks as requested by the Chief Investment Officer or Regional Investment Officer

Skills and experience required:
An experienced and highly capable modeller with excellent Excel modelling skills and a strong understanding of investments and financial management principles. Knowledge of VBA would be advantageous
Good relationship management skills, with a proven ability to work effectively with a variety of individuals and contribute to the team dynamic
Self-motivated, capable of working alone with limited guidance where necessary with the drive and energy to achieve success. Proactive in spotting opportunities for improvements in the modelling process and the standard modelling protocols
Used to obtaining information from multiple sources, critically reviewing the information available and researching issues relevant to investment models. A proven ability to learn quickly, capable of learning how third party litigation funding works
Business acumen – able to understand pricing structures and the profitability objectives of the business
Highly organised, with an ability to balance priorities and remain calm under pressure
Intellectual agility and communication skills, both oral and written
A high level of personal integrity and confidentiality
