Assistant Financial Controller

Job Description

This is a 12-18 month contract.

Duties include:
Responsible for day-to-day payments administration of a number of trading companies
Assisting with general accounting duties in finance department
Ad hoc project work
Assist with the leadership of the Management Accounts Team
Monitoring performance of the department
Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
Production of Management Accounts
Preparation of VAT and Tax returns
Preparation of statutory accounts
Management and control of bank accounts
Audit liaison
Monitoring of Junior Staff members
Assist the Financial Controller in all areas of the organisation
Review of Management accounts and Statutory accounts
Processing financial transactions through Sage and other accounting systems
Review of departmental VAT returns, Financial Statements and Management accounts

Skills and experience required:
Must be able to work on own initiative to achieve desired results
Able to undertake own research to deal with problems that arise
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with suppliers and internal staff effectively
Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
Computer literacy essential
Professional qualification preferred (ACCA / ACA)
Creative approach to problem solving necessary
Ability to develop new ideas
Good team player with ability to manage team
Flexible and adaptable approach to work (including overtime if required)
Must have a positive ‘can do’ attitude
Good knowledge of VAT
IOM and UK company experience desirable
