Job Description

With a flexible, can do attitude, you ll add your expertise to an already strong team to provide application development capability for new and existing systems, based on user specifications.

Duties include:

Application maintenance, modifications, and enhancements to new/existing systems through programming, testing, documenting, and training users

Conferring with BA s, Users and department representatives in resolving questions of program/system intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, and inclusion of internal checks and controls

Understanding the Manx Telecom estate, our systems and how they are (or might be) automated

Provides on-call programming support as required for production systems

Communicates and works as needed with any internal/external customers with a more senior developer/engineer or manager present

Performs other duties as assigned by management

Skills and experience required:

Excellence in building web services and web based applications using .NET 4.x technologies e.g. MVC, REST, and ASP.NET (probably at least four years)

A fluency in information technology fundamentals and multi-lingual in programming languages

Where you have gained a detailed knowledge of in-house program design and development procedures, turnover procedures, and housekeeping standards

An ability to perform analysis of straightforward system functionality, working collaboratively with other Software Engineers and architects

Collecting requirements and estimating the efforts involved accurately

An ability to gain detailed knowledge of general system architecture and functionality, as well as detailed knowledge of specific sub-systems

Your working knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures as it relates to software development

Instances where you have effectively managed your time while working on multiple assignments, seeking guidance as to relative priorities where necessary

Proficiency in SQL development, mainly on Microsoft SQL database platform

Working knowledge of PL/SQL and development in Oracle databases

Complete understanding of system development life cycle

Experience working with source control systems like Git

Ability to independently work on projects and finish them within time and budget

An undergraduate degree in computer science would be ideal

Experience of developing bespoke, small-scale software that is user-friendly and of a commercial quality

Ability to self-motivate, work independently and creatively, and manage deadlines

Ability to work with and guide non-specialists in the co-design of application
