Unemployment figures December 2018

Key Points as at the end of December 2018:

  • The number of registered unemployed increased by 19 compared with December 2017
  • 107 persons signed onto and 83 persons left the register over the month. The net movement was an increase of 24 persons on the register between November 2018 and December 2018
  • The unemployment rate for December is 0.8%, remaining the same as the previous month November 2018. The unemployment rate is the proportion of economically active population registered unemployed
  • During the month, 446 job vacancies were notified to the Job Centre. At the end of the month, 316 remained. 83% (263) were full time positions and 17% (53) were part time
  • ILO estimate: It is estimated that 799 individuals are unemployed and looking for work in December 2018, compared with 775 in November 2018. This amounts to an unemployment rate of 1.9%. See Methodology section for further details
